A backwoods Pentecostal abuses her daughters in rural Arkansas. A sobering and brutal account from the end of the age, as told by sixteen year old Bridgette Parker, daughter of Kay Parker. Bridgette’s bleak, melancholy vision is a picture in twilight and darkness, born from the heart of merciless evil uncovered.

Raised by their widowed mother alone, Bridgette and her 13 year old sister Alexia struggle to endure the unspeakable, hidden away in the tiny farming community of Hazelnut, Arkansas. As they cope with their mother’s growing fanaticism, the two girls draw strength from one another in the shadows of secret, as they are confronted with the depth of sadism, and the terrifying truth of whether or not they can survive their mother’s cruelty.
